Dhaka, April 13 -- State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on Monday requested enhanced cooperation in the energy sector to ensure long term energy security and thanked the Algerian authorities for their keen interest in expanding collaboration in the hydrocarbon sector.

Both sides discussed avenues to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, shipbuilding and manpower sectors.

Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh Abdelouahab Saidani paid a courtesy call on the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed the issues.
