Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- A Dhaka court on Thursday put former Officer-in-Charge of Cantonment Police Station Md Rakibul Hasan on five-day remand in a sedition case filed over allegedly spreading anti-state and provocative statements on social media.

Judge of the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Md Didarul Alam passed the order when police produced him before it, seeking seven days' remand in the case.

Earlier in the day, police arrested the former OC from Rajarbagh in the capital in the case, said Md Akhtar Hossain, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
