Dhaka, April 22 -- The Election Commission has declared the nomination papers of 12 candidates from the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance valid for the reserved women's seat election, while keeping the nomination of one candidate pending.

The pending candidate is Monira Sharmin, joint convener of the NCP, whose nomination will be decided after she submits required documents.

The scrutiny of nomination papers was conducted on Wednesday at the Election Building in Agargaon by Returning Officer Md Moin Uddin Khan, also a joint secretary of the Election Commission.
