Dhaka, Aug. 2 -- Candidates recommended for appointment as assistant teachers in government primary schools began an indefinite sit-in in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital on Sunday, demanding that the government complete their appointments within August.

The demonstration began around 11:00am under tight police security.

A total of 14,384 candidates were recommended for appointment following the government primary school assistant teacher recruitment examination held on January 9 this year.

However, despite completing the recruitment process, the recommended candidates have yet to receive their appointment letters.
