Rangpur, Oct. 14 -- Police have detained Abdur Rahim Pramanik Tipu, secretary of Pirganj Municipality in Rangpur, in connection with the death of two workers after the roof of an under-construction municipal building collapsed.

Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Haque confirmed the detention on Wednesday, saying police were investigating possible negligence in supervising the construction work..

The families of the deceased workers are in the process of filing a case. Once the case is filed, the detained municipal secretary will be shown arrested and produced before a court, the OC said.
