MOSCOW, Sept. 26 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Friday that any escalation of tensions or "provocative acts" by Kiev would fail to achieve Ukraine's desired outcomes and would only worsen the situation for them.

"They must understand that no provocative acts or escalation of tensions will deliver the outcome they seek. Such moves will only make the situation worse for them," Putin said during a press briefing.

The Russian president stated that Moscow's military responses had compelled Kiev to seek ceasefire arrangements across several areas, including halts to attacks on energy facilities and airstrikes.
