, Sept. 26 -- Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Dr Md Nurul Islam has been appointed the university's new Vice Chancellor.

The Ministry of Education issued a gazette notification on Saturday morning following approval from the President of Bangladesh, who serves as the university's chancellor.

According to the notification, the authorities relieved Prof Nurul Islam from his position as Vice Chancellor of Dhaka Central University and appointed him JU VC under Section 11(1) of the Jahangirnagar University Order, 1973.

He will serve for four years from the date of joining or until his retirement, whichever comes first.
