Dhaka, Aug. 6 -- The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday announced the schedule for the presidential election, with voting set to take place on August 20.

EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced the schedule at a press conference at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital in the afternoon.

According to the schedule, nomination papers will be submitted from 10:00am to 4:00pm on August 13. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on August 16, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 18.

Voting will take place from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on August 20 in the session chamber of the Jatiya Sangsad.

Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin is the returning officer of the presidential election.
