Dhaka, March 21 -- President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Saturday called for global unity to support helpless people and stressed the need for ending war, conflict and vengeance to establish peace and stability everywhere.

"As human beings, it is our moral responsibility to stand united beside the helpless people. We hope for a permanent end to war, conflict and vengeance and the establishment of peace and stability everywhere. Eid teaches us that very lesson," he said while addressing the nation on the occasion of Eid - Ul fitr.

He also extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the people of Bangladesh and Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
