Dhaka, Oct. 26 -- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday called on the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) to play a more effective role in ensuring the quality of higher education in the country and aligning it with international standards.

He made the call when a five-member delegation led by BAC Chairman Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain Khan met him at Bangabhaban.

During the meeting, the BAC chairman briefed the President on the council's activities, future plans, the need for a permanent headquarters and measures to strengthen its institutional capacity.
