, Aug. 29 -- A fire broke out at a power substation in Datia area of Brahmanbaria district town early Saturday, disrupting power supply to several areas.

The fire broke out at around 5:30am as an auxiliary transformer at the substation suddenly caught fire , said Md Nasir Uddin, assistant engineer of the Brahmanbaria Electricity Distribution Division.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

Later, firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

As the transformer was damaged by the fire, power supply to several areas has remained suspended.

Efforts are underway to repair the damaged equipment and restore electricity as soon as possible, he said.
