Dhaka, Nov. 1 -- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday said government officials might have political affiliations during their student life, but such affiliations must not be reflected in their professional careers under any circumstances.

He made the remarks while addressing an introductory and briefing session for newly appointed officers of the 45th BCS (Police) and BCS (Ansar) cadres at the conference room of the Home Ministry at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

Congratulating the newly appointed officers, the minister said their foremost responsibility in the superior service was to maintain the country's law and order and ensure a conducive environment for the smooth functioning of all activities.
