Brahmanbaria, Aug. 29 -- Police on Friday recovered nine sacks of smuggled Indian cannabis from a microbus that plunged into a pond during a high-speed chase in Kasba upazila.

The incident occurred in the morning in the Khidirpur area of Binaouty union. No arrests have been made as the driver and smugglers managed to swim ashore and escape.

According to police, acting on a tip-off about a large shipment of Indian cannabis, a team from Kasba Police Station set up a checkpoint on the Syedabad-Nayanpur road in the early hours of Friday. When a suspicious black microbus ignored signals to stop and sped away, police gave chase.
