, July 27 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday urged newspaper editors to continue offering constructive criticism of the government while also highlighting its positive initiatives so that people remain informed about measures taken in the public interest.

He made the call during a meeting with leaders of the National Editors' Council at the Prime Minister's Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to the Prime Minister's Press Wing.

The Prime Minister also sought the editors' cooperation in formulating a policy framework for ensuring a free and independent media and protecting journalists.
