Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday headed to Feni on his first visit to the district since taking office, with several development and public welfare programmes on his daylong itinerary.

The Prime Minister's motorcade left his Gulshan residence for Feni by road at around 8:40am, said PM's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Dhaka in the evening after completing his daylong programmes in Feni, he said.

The Prime Minister's maternal grandfather, Eskandar Majumder, hailed from Majumder Bari at Sripur village of Fulgazi upazila in Feni.
