Dhaka, April 9 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended support to five-year-old Ratul and elderly water vendor Shahnur Begum after their struggles were highlighted in media reports.

According to a press release, the Prime Minister took notice of a report titled "Family burden on the shoulder of five-year-old Ratul" and directed his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon to take necessary steps to assist the family.

Following the directive, a delegation from 'Amra BNP Poribar', led by its Member Secretary Moksedul Momin Mithun, visited Ratul's family in the Khilgaon Shantipur area of the capital on Thursday. Tarique Rahman is the chief patron of the organisation.
