Dhaka, July 11 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper treatment for a wild elephant, which was seriously injured after falling from a hill in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said the elephant fell from a hill about 300 feet high in the Naittongpara area of Teknaf after heavy rainfall triggered a landslide, leaving the animal with serious injuries to its hind legs, chest and abdomen.

"The Prime Minister became concerned after learning about the incident. He instructed the authorities to ensure the elephant receives proper treatment and that all necessary measures are taken for its recovery," he said.
