Bogura, April 20 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday inaugurated a canal excavation programme at his ancestral village - Bagbari - in Gabtali upazila of Bogura.

He formally launched the excavation work on the Chowkidah canal at Nasipur around 3:45pm by cutting soil with a spade.

Earlier, the Prime Minister distributed Family Cards among 911 beneficiaries at the Shaheed Zia Degree College ground in Bagbari.

BNP's party song, "Prothom Bangladesh Amar Shesh Bangladesh", was performed at the event.
