, March 26 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday exchanged greetings with members of the armed forces after the colourful parade marking Independence and National Day at the National Parade Square in the capital.

This year's parade turned into a remarkable display of patriotism, discipline and military capability, as it was held after an 18-year gap.

After the programme, while leaving the parade ground, the Prime Minister greeted members of the armed forces present there.

The Prime Minister expressed his admiration for the impressive arrangements.

Stating that he himself belongs to a family with a background in the armed forces, Tarique said his government will further strengthen the forces.
