Dhaka, Aug. 16 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team on their historic nine-wicket victory over Australia in the first Test in Darwin, their first Test win on Australian soil.

Bangladesh secured the memorable victory on Sunday, beating the hosts by nine wickets in the series opener. The win came 23 years after Bangladesh last played a Test in Australia.

The Prime Minister was on his way to Kishoreganj when Bangladesh sealed the historic victory. After the match, he spoke to the players over a video call and congratulated them on their achievement.

He also conveyed greetings and congratulations to the players on behalf of the people of Bangladesh.
