Sangsad Bhaban, June 29 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday described the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2026-27 as a "life-friendly budget", saying it aims to provide relief for people from all walks of life and act as a roadmap for rebuilding the nation while reviving an economy weakened by years of corruption and mismanagement.

Joining the general discussion on the proposed budget in Parliament, the Prime Minister also proposed a series of tax concessions and urged the finance minister to withdraw several controversial budget provisions in response to public concerns.
