Dhaka, Nov. 3 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has approved Tk 3 crore in financial assistance for the Christian community to celebrate Christmas, raising the proposed grant by Tk 1 crore.

The Christian Religious Welfare Trust sought Tk 2 crore for the celebration of Christmas, the biggest religious festival of the Christian community.

The Prime Minister approved the higher allocation on Monday after receiving a summary from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said PM's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.

The money will be allocated from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund through the Ministry of Religious Affairs to support the celebration of Christmas on December 25.
