Sylhet, March 10 -- A worker of a petrol pump was stabbed by a customer in Sylhet city on Monday evening after being denied fuel, prompting petrol pump owners to call a half-day strike on Tuesday in protest.

The incident took place around 7pm at Uttara Petrol Pump in the Choukidekhi area of the city.

The injured worker, Mithu Goyala, was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Airport Police Station Investigation Officer Soumen Maitra said the customer attacked the worker out of anger after failing to get fuel. Police visited the spot and are trying to arrest the accused.
