Dhaka, April 15 -- As measles continues to claim the lives of children in the country, the government has vowed strict accountability, warning that those responsible for failures in preventing deaths from preventable diseases will face action.

Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman on Wednesday said every death linked to preventable diseases is being thoroughly investigated, as authorities work to contain the outbreak and prevent further fatalities.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Press Information Department, he noted that the current measles situation will not improve overnight, as immunity takes time to develop after vaccination.
