Kushtia, Sept. 26 -- A man was killed and at least 10 others injured in a clash between two groups in Rajapur-Khayerpur area of Kushtia Sadar upazila over establishing dominance in the area on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Halim Sardar, 60.

According to locals, there was a longstanding dispute between Mannan Member-Bakul group and Yusuf Member-Mehedi group over establishing dominance in the area.

The two groups locked into a series of clashes over the theft of a battery from a local mosque recently.

Against this backdrop, members of the two groups gathered near Chapaigachhi Beel early Saturday and attacked each other, leaving at least 10 people injured.
