Dhaka, Aug. 30 -- General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on Saturday assumed his duties at the General Secretariat headquarters.

He held a number of internal meetings and began a direct and detailed review of work in progress across the Organization's various sectors, as well as of the most prominent files and priority issues.

This will enable him to assess the current state of institutional performance and identify practical priorities for the next phase, according to OIC headquarters.

In this context, the Secretary-General issued his first decisions, concerning appointments to several leadership positions within the General Secretariat.
