Non-performing loans surpass Tk 6 lakh crore
Dhaka, Sept. 2 -- performing loans (NPLs) in Bangladesh's banking sector have surged once again, surpassing Tk 6 lakh crore by the end of June 2026 despite various policy concessions and restructuring facilities offered to borrowers.
According to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank, total default loans reached Tk 6,06,555 crore at the end of June, marking an increase of Tk 17,851 crore in three months.
The total proportion of default loans against total disbursed loans rose to 32.78 percent in June, up by 0.52 percentage points from 32.26 percent in March.
At the end of March 2026, classified loans in the banking sector stood at Tk 5,88,704 crore.
