Dhaka, Sept. 20 -- The Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West) has detected Tk 3.28 crore in VAT evasion by Xinlian Electronics Technology Bangladesh Co Ltd, an electronics manufacturer in Dhamrai.

Following a tip-off, a preventive team conducted a raid at the company's facility in Nabagram, Dhamrai, on Sept 17, according to a press release.

The company, registered as a lithium battery manufacturer, was found to have been preparing locally manufactured batteries and keeping imported mobile chargers, branded headphones and Bluetooth headphones for supply.

A review of the seized documents found that the company had concealed sales worth Tk 14,56,18,507, resulting in VAT evasion of Tk 1,89,85,892, the commissionerate said. ...
