, Sept. 5 -- Four people, including a mother and her son, were killed and two others injured Saturday morning in a head-on collision between a covered van and a CNG autorickshaw in Gazipur's Kaliakair upazila.

The deceased were identified as Nasima Begum, her son Asadul and Firoza Begum. The identity of the other victim, a man, is yet to be confirmed.

According to police and locals, the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the Kanchanpur area on the Phulbaria-Maona regional road.

The autorickshaw was heading toward Kaliakair from Sreepur's Maona with five passengers when the covered van coming from the opposite direction rammed it, crumpling the three-wheeler and throwing it off the road.
