MIST wins world title in underwater robotics competition in Canada
, July 1 -- A team from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) has won the MATE ROV 2026 World Championship in the Pioneer Class at the prestigious MATE ROV Competition held in Canada.
The competition took place from June 23 to 27 in Newfoundland and Labrador, where MIST's flagship underwater robot, MAVIRIO ROV, secured the overall championship by competing against 77 teams from 18 countries, achieving the highest combined score across all competition categories.
The victory reflects the team's expertise in planning, designing and developing advanced underwater robotic systems, according to a media release of MIST issued on Wednesday.
