Bhola, Sept. 28 -- Police recovered the body of a missing businessman with marks around his neck and injuries to his abdomen from a pond in Char Fasson upazila of Bhola on Sunday, a day after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Bashar Pandit, 35, son of Abul Kashem of Ward No. 3 of Nazrulnagar Union.

Police recovered his body from a waterbody beside the house of Salma Begum, a woman who had allegedly called Bashar to her house on Saturday morning. The body was reportedly found with one leg tied.

Following the recovery, angry locals and relatives allegedly assaulted Salma, leaving her critically injured, and vandalised and set fire to her house. Firefighters later brought the blaze under control.
