Kushtia, Aug. 11 -- Miscreants set fire to a July Memorial in front of Shaheed Abrar Fahad Stadium in Kushtia district town after pouring petrol on it early Tuesday.

A video clip of the incident went viral on social media in the afternoon.

In the video, a man is heard chanting slogans, including "Joy Bangla" and "Joy Bangabandhu," and saying that deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh in December.

Almas Hossain, a leader of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, described the incident as a planned act.

He also claimed that they had received prior information that such an incident could take place and had informed the police of it beforehand.
