, Sept. 17 -- Meherpur district Awami League (activities banned) leader M A Khalek was arrested at Darshana-Jaynagar checkpost in Chuadanga on Thursday while allegedly attempting to travel to India despite facing a case and an arrest warrant.

Khalek, general secretary of district Awami League, was arrested around 12pm after immigration police became suspicious and verified his passport and visa details, according to sources at the Darshana immigration police.

According to Darshana immigration police sources, Khalek is accused in a case filed with Gangni Police Station dated April 13, 2025.

The case was filed under Sections 15(3)/25D of the Special Powers Act, 1974.
