Dhaka, May 25 -- A massive fire broke out at the Kalshi Slum in the city's Pallabi area on Monday evening.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), the fire was reported at 7:23pm.

On information, two firefighting units initially rushed to the spot around 7:32pm to battle the blaze.

Later, 11 more units from different fire stations joined them. They were working to bring the fire under control.

However, water shortage was hampering firefighting efforts, said Warehouse Inspector Anwarul Islam of the FSCD media cell.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
