Manikganj, Nov. 5 -- A Manikganj court on Thursday sentenced five people to death and eight others to life imprisonment in a case filed over killing three persons over land dispute in 2016.

Manikganj District and Sessions Judge SKM Tofayel Hasan handed down the punishment.

The condemned convicts are Jiyer Uddin, Zahidul Islam, Abdur Rashid, Jashim and Siddik Mia of Gobindal village in Singair upazila.

The lifers are Zahir Uddin, Azizul, Ujjal, Shamsul Haque, Salauddin, Mazed Mia, Manan and Swapan.

The court also sentenced seven other accused to different terms jail under another section of the case.
