Narsingdi, May 24 -- A man was killed after being struck by lightning while travelling on the roof of a train in Ghorashal area of Narsingdi on the Dhaka-Chattogram railway route on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sajib Sarker, 35, son of Shamsul Haque Sarkar of Fuldi village under Palashthali union of Raipura upazila. He worked at a restaurant in Dhaka and was returning home for Eid holidays.

The incident occurred around 4:30pm when the Noakhali-bound Upakul Express, which had left Dhaka, was passing through the Ghorashal railway station area under Palash upazila during heavy rain.
