Sylhet, Aug. 16 -- A man was hacked to death by his elder brother in Gowainghat upazila on Saturday noon, shortly after filing a rape complaint against his nephew.

The deceased was identified as Kalim Ullah, 55, son of the late Tuti Mia of Lafnaut Dighirpar village in Alirgaon Union. Saifullah.

Locals said a daughter of victim Kalim Ullah was allegedly raped by Zuber Ahmed, 18, son of his brother Sayfullah. The matter came to light last Monday.

Following failure of local mediation (salish), the victim and her father filed a written rape complaint at Gowainghat Police Station on Saturday.

After receiving the complaint, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station immediately sent a police team to arrest Zuber Ahmed.
