, June 8 -- mob attack over theft allegation in Bandail (Jianagar) village in Singair upazila of Manikganj early Monday.

The victim was identified as Rajib, 40, a resident of Dattakhand village in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district.

Locals said a theft allegedly took place at the house of Mohammad Hakim Ali at around 2 am.

Locals alleged that Rajib entered the house by cutting through a window grill, while several of his associates remained outside.

Cash and gold ornaments were looted from the house and passed to the accomplices, who fled the scene, they claimed.

When the homeowner became aware of the incident, he confronted the suspected thief, leading to a scuffle.
