Sylhet, Nov. 7 -- A man was killed and at least 10 others were injured in a clash over a long-standing dispute over a mosque committee at Lakshmipur village in Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Md. Geda Mia, 65, a local arbitration figure from Lakshmipur village under Tetli Union.

The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Locals said Geda Mia's family had been involved in a long-running dispute over the mosque committee with a rival group led by Alauddin and Elias.

On Friday evening, Alauddin, Elias and their accomplices allegedly attacked Geda Mia's house and looted the house of his son, Kamal.
