, March 30 -- A Faridpur tribunal on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to jail until death for killing his wife by setting her on fire over dowry in 2020.

Faridpur Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Shamima Parveen handed down the punishment.

The condemned convict is Rashed Molla, 30 of Ghoradah Bazar in Sadar upazila of the district.

The tribunal also fined him Tk 50,000. The court also sentenced him three years imprisonment and fined Tk 10,000, in another section of the case, in default to suffer one year more in jail.
