Dhaka, Sept. 9 -- A man died after falling from the roof of the 16-storey building of BIRDEM Hospital in the capital on Tuesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Dipu Sultan Rasel, 42, son of Imam Uddin and a resident of Rajab Ali Sardar Road in Kadamtali.

Md Nayeem, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ramna Model Police Station, said Rasel fell from the roof of the building at around 6:15pm.

On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued him.

He was later taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 11:30pm, where the doctor on duty declared him dead upon arrival.

SI Nayeem said the body had been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
