Lalmonirhat, July 25 -- A madrasa teacher was arrested on Friday night for allegedly sodomising his 12-year-old residential student in Lalmonirhat's Aditmari upazila.

The arrestee has been identified as Md Shahjalal Haque, 23. He was produced in Lalmonirhat district court at 3.00 pm which sent him to judicial custody.

The victim was a Hifz student at Madrasatu Tahfizil Quran Waddinia Hafizia Madrasa in the Paschim Bhelabari Namurir Par area of the upazila.

According to the complaint, around 12:30 am on July 21, Md Shahjalal Haque called the boy to his room on the pretext of asking him to massage his head.

He then sexually assaulted the boy and threatened him not to disclose the incident to anyone.
