Dhaka, April 4 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Saturday approved in principle three separate proposals to procure some 16 lakh metric tons of diesel and 1 lakh metric tons of octane to meet the growing demand for energy in the country amid global geopolitical instability.

The approval came from the 8th meeting of the committee held virtually with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

The meeting reviewed three proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and thus approved those in principle, said Cabinet Division officials.
