Dhaka, Sept. 26 -- Police detained journalist Abu Jafar Surya along with more than 100 others during a raid on the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSad) office in Gulistan on Saturday afternoon.

The police raid was conducted following intelligence reports of a secret meeting involving leaders and activists of the Awami League, police said.

Paltan police launched the operation at the JaSad office at around 2;30 pm after receiving the information, said Officer-in-Charge Ariful Islam of Paltan police station.

"According to intelligence information, Awami League leaders and activists were holding a secret meeting at the JaSad office. We started the operation there after noon," the OC said.
