Dhaka, Sept. 9 -- Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal is observing its 48th founding anniversary on Wednesday with various programmes.

BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman founded the organisation on September 9, 1978, with the aim of increasing women's political awareness, protecting their rights and empowering them socially and politically.

As part of the anniversary programmes, the organisation's leaders on Wednesday morning paid tribute at the graves Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi attended the programme as the chief guest.
