Sylhet, July 26 -- e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday called for ensuring a safe and secure working environment for journalists, saying justice for slain journalist Turab is essential to restoring public confidence in the rule of law.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting the Fatehpur graveyard in Beanibazar, where he paid tribute at the grave of martyred journalist Turab, the then Sylhet bureau chief of Daily Naya Diganta and staff reporter of Daily Jalalabad.

He also offered special prayers for Turab's soul.

Following the visit, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met Turab's family members and expressed deep condolences to his elder brother, Abu Azraf Md. Jabur, and other relatives.
