Dhaka, July 16 -- The colourful Rath Yatra procession of Lord Jagannath, one of the most important religious festivals of the Hindu community, was held peacefully in the capital on Thursday under a comprehensive security arrangement by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The procession began at 3:00 pm from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple at Swamibagh.

To ensure the festival was celebrated without any untoward incidents, the DMP deployed a large number of police personnel along the entire procession route and surrounding areas as part of a coordinated security plan.
