Dhaka, Aug. 14 -- The government has taken an initiative to transform the country's shipbuilding and ship-recycling industries into safe, environment-friendly and sustainable sectors.

Separate meetings were held in the Secretariat on Thursday to review the existing laws, rules, policies and challenges facing the two industries and formulate recommendations for their sustainable development, said a PID handout on Friday.
