Dhaka, Sept. 29 -- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir directed field-level police officers to take strict legal action against drug traders, terrorists and extortionists, saying there is no scope to consider political identity in dealing with criminals.

"The only identity of a criminal is that of a criminal," he said.

The IGP gave the directives at the monthly crime review meeting for August 2026 held at Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

He also instructed them to take appropriate legal action against juvenile offenders.
