, July 20 -- Rising water levels in major rivers and forecasts of heavy rainfall may trigger flashflood in at least 16 districts, according to the latest Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) bulletin.

Water levels in the Teesta, Dharla, and Dudhkumar rivers have risen significantly over the past 24 hours and are expected to continue increasing for the next two days, said the FFWC bulletin.

These rivers could cross the danger level within 24 to 48 hours, triggering flood in low-lying areas of Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur, Gaibandha, and Kurigram.

In the northeast, the Surma River has continued to rise, while the Kushiyara River has shown a slight recession.
